Dedicated Ice Update
Well, as you know, we launched our dedicated ice campaign in ernest this summer when we ran our Viking River Cruise raffle. It was a successful promotion that raised $24,000 for dedicated ice in southern California. Well done!
The Board of Directors and the Long Term Planning Committee have been working hard to keep things moving along since our last member meeting in April. We’ve continued to work on the San Fernando option while exploring other options along the way. (Members, if you need a refresher, there's information posted in the members only forum).
Here’s where we’re at right now:
We’ve been negotiating with the prospective landlords in San Fernando over the past few months and are getting very close on terms. It’s a very exciting time as it means once we agree on terms of a Letter of Intent that outlines the expectation of both parties, we can enter negotiations on an actual lease. So far, the process has been pleasant as the landlords are keen to work with us and come up with some creative solutions. Things are on the right track, and we're feeling very positive about it.
We’ve also been working with the city council in San Fernando, who are excited about the prospect of us coming to town. We are exploring different ways we can work together and leverage our respective connections and resources to bring this unique activity to the city.
All in all, very positive, and the wheels are in motion. In the coming weeks we will host further info sessions to update everyone and answer questions. We want to be sure we’re all on the same page as we move forward.
Next up, we have the LA2050 grant challenge. We’ll be asking you to share your #ConnectWithCurling moments on social media. Did you meet a friend or the love of your life? Did you collaborate on a project with your curling pals? Has volunteering been rewarding for you?
Also: If you’re interesting in being more involved, we can always use more help. Let us know!
