You’ve watched curling on TV during the Winter Olympics, but you never thought you’d have the chance to try it. That changes now! Hollywood Curling, LA County’s only organization dedicated to the sport, will offer a Learn to Curl at the Promenade Ice Chalet in Palos Verdes. We'll have a team of experienced curlers on hand to teach you, as well as all the equipment you’ll need - just wear comfortable (and warm) clothing and flat-soled shoes.
We'll run a 4 week league starting August 12 at the Ice Chalet. You'll learn everything you need to get going at the Learn to Curl and be ready to play!
About the sport of curlingThe popular sport of curling, a game in which 42-pound granite stones are hurled down a 150-foot sheet of ice at a central target while teammates use brushes or brooms to sweep the ice in the path of the stone, has seen a tremendous increase in popularity in the US in the past decade. Owing large in part to the televised coverage during the Winter Olympics in Torino in 2006, Vancouver in 2010 and Sochi in 2014, Americans have been flocking to the sport with intrigue and fascination. The sport has seen explosive expansion in recent years, particularly in the area of arena clubs like Hollywood Curling, which share the ice with hockey players and figure skaters.
